Coconut palms are part of what makes Kailua look like Kailua. They also lean over roads, sidewalks and driveways, and dead fronds and coconuts don’t wait for a good time to fall. HTM Contractors has been out trimming palms in Kailua, and we’ll be doing more palm tree trimming across Windward and Leeward Oahu.

Palm Tree Trimming in Kailua
Our crews recently trimmed 70 coconut palms along neighborhood roads and at Kailua District Park, and 87 coconut palms along a single Kailua street. Most of the work was done from a bucket truck with cones set out to keep the road safe, with a chip truck following behind to process the fronds. The result is a clear road, a clear sidewalk and palms that look cared for.

Why Coconut Palm Trimming Matters in Hawaii
- It’s safer for people and cars. Dead fronds and coconuts can fall on roads, sidewalks, driveways and parked vehicles. Trimming takes them out of the air above everyone.
- It looks better. Clean crowns and no brown fronds make a yard, a street or a property look cared for.
- There are fewer surprises. A regular trimming schedule beats reacting after something has already fallen.
- It’s a chance to check the palm. A routine trim is a good time to spot problems early, including signs of the coconut rhinoceros beetle.
- The cleanup is handled. We chip the fronds and leave the road and walkways clear.
Palm Tree Trimming Across Windward and Leeward Oahu
We’ll be trimming more palms around the Windward side, including Kailua, Kaneohe and Lanikai, and out on the Leeward side too, from Ewa Beach and Kapolei to Waipahu and Pearl City. We trim single palms in a yard, rows of palms along a street, and the grounds of parks, associations and condo communities. If you’re in a neighborhood where we’re already working, ask about getting your palms done while our crew is nearby.

How Often Should Palms Be Trimmed?
It depends on the type of palm, how fast it grows, and how much traffic is underneath it. A palm over a driveway or a roadside needs more attention than one in the middle of a large lawn. At a free estimate we can look at your palms and help you decide on a schedule that fits your property. For more on what a proper trim involves, see our guide to palm tree trimming, and if you manage a condo or HOA, read Palm Trimming for Condo Associations in Hawaii.
One Crew for the Whole Property
Besides palms, we trim the other trees on your property, and we can help with dumpster rentals and junk removal when you need them. We’re licensed and insured, and estimates are free.
