HTM Contractors recently completed a selective demolition project at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary in Mililani, Oahu. The job called for removing an existing concrete building on the property, and it’s a great example of the kind of careful, precise work that selective demolition requires.

A Job That Called for Precision
Unlike a full teardown, selective demolition means removing part of a structure or a specific building while everything around it stays untouched and in use. At Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary, that meant our crew had to bring down the concrete building while making sure the surrounding property, and everything on it, stayed fully protected throughout the project.
Working on the grounds of an active memorial park and mortuary adds an extra layer of responsibility. Before any demolition work began, our team put protective measures in place to safeguard the adjacent property. From there, the crew worked methodically to bring the concrete structure down section by section, always keeping the surrounding area in mind.

Getting the Job Done, Start to Finish
Once the structure was down, the work wasn’t finished. Our team hauled away all of the resulting debris, leaving the site clean, clear, and ready for whatever comes next. No shortcuts, no mess left behind, and no damage to the property next door.

This project is a good reminder that demolition isn’t just about knocking things down. It takes planning, the right equipment, and a crew that knows how to work safely in sensitive environments, whether that’s next to a business that’s still operating, a residential neighborhood, or in this case, a memorial park and mortuary that continued to serve the community throughout the project.
